Jobi Riccio

Born and raised in Morrison, Colorado - a tourist town in the foothills outside of Denver that’s home to Red Rocks Amphitheater - Jobi Riccio grew up surrounded by music and found inspiration in artists ranging from Sheryl Crow to Joni Mitchell.  Sonically, Jobi’s music exists between worlds, melding the classic craftsmanship of her songwriting with modern indie-leaning production to forge a lush, expansive sound that feels traditional and experimental all at once.  She has received acclaim for her songwriting, including winning the 2019 NewSong Music Competition, performing at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, receiving the 2019 Lee Villiare Scholarship from her alma mater Berklee College of Music, and being named a finalist in the 2018 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriters Showcase.  In 2023 Jobi was awarded the Newport Folk Festival John Prine Fellowship.

Her debut album, "Whiplash," which debuted September 2023 on Yep Roc, introduces influences from a variety of genres, while still holding space for Riccio's love for all decades of country and americana music.

Lou Hazel

Lou Hazel

Lou Hazel was born in the town of Olean, New York to a family of northeastern wiseacres.

Not one to commit, he skirted the compulsive hunting and fishing tradition held close to his father’s heart - instead cultivating a sensitivity more suited to artists and vagabonds. As a result, his travels brought him across the country and eventually through debilitating depression before coming to rest with a sense of personal peace and positivity in Durham, NC.

Yet, Lou’s brain is still a bat cave. Mostly, he wakes up with no idea what he’s going to do next, then finds himself there. In songwriting, he pulls from this cave rambling, heartfelt tales flowing through unselfconscious truth. In illustrations, he swirls and meanders towards an eventual finish only understood upon completion – as in his music. And in his photography and design work, he renders the essence of fellow musicians into expressive, personalized works of art.

Today, Louie continues crafting genuine folk tales of honest longing, disquieting loss, and nostalgia through a brilliant sheen of fresh insight with humble humor. Grabbing us by the ears in a new-age, Prine-like grip. Transforming the minutiae of everyday life into ever more evocative music. And surprising us all, including himself, with where we emerge.

In other words, Lou Hazel is coming out of this unbearable, unbelievably tragic, disconcerting year like a damn newborn moth with jet engine wings aimed toward a totally full super-moon. And it is good.

Victoria Bigelow

A young woman hailing from the desert, Bigelow has heart and soul. Her moody, yet hopeful, music has drawn comparisons with Weyes Blood, Angel Olsen, and Mazzy Star, but it’s her life, her voice, and her honesty that gives her a sound all of her own. Telling stories of heartbreak, adversity, and bittersweet hope, Bigelow takes love, loss, and longing, and transforms them into music that speaks to the heart of the modern world. Songs written with no one else around, to help all of us feel a little less alone.

Luck Presents “Look West”

Luck Presents “Look West”

Celebrating Western Cinema and Culture

In November 2024, Luck Presents hosted the inaugural “Look West,” a celebration of western culture with a focus on film.

Look West took place at “Luck” TX, which was built as the set for Red Headed Stranger in 1985. The film was adapted from Willie Nelson’s album by the same title. Nelson acted in the film and loved the western town set so much that the plot of the film was changed to save Luck from burning in a fire at the end of the film. Given its history, Luck was the perfect place for a two-day film-centric event celebrating Western culture through film.

Look West honored legendary screenwriter Bill Wittliff and his contribution to film and storytelling, showcased screenings of his works, displayed selections from the Wittliff Collections archives, and featured music performances honoring his legacy. Look West attendees were treated to daytime showings in the town’s saloon and chapel buildings, followed by sunset performances and a feature film under the hill country stars each evening.

Between screenings patrons partook in a range of food offerings from a thematic chuck wagon experience to elevated movie concessions, saddled up to the onsite bars, and shopped from a line of curated vendors. Fans viewed exclusive memorabilia from the featured films, and other items spanning Bill Wittliff’s expansive career, in a one-of-a-kind Wittliff Collections exhibit display onsite.

The celebration began with a screening of “Barbarosa,” and later celebrated “Honeysuckle Rose” with a feature showing of the film and a musical tribute led by Walker Lukens & Friends and featuring the movie’s own Amy Irving and special guests. The second day of the event included screenings of “Raggedy Man,” “Legends of the Fall,” “Texas Shorts” presented by Austin Film Festival, and an all-day marathon screening of “Lonesome Dove,” followed by performances by songwriters James McMurtry and John Moreland.

Both days of the two-day celebration showcased “Alone In Tombstone,” Southwest Airlines’ first-ever brand film based on a short story written by Wattpad author E.A. Comiskey. “Alone in Tombstone” was adapted into a short film by Tongal community member Kelsey Taylor. Filmed on location at Mescal Movie Set, a western town in Benson, Arizona, it tells the story of a young woman searching for her place in life when she suddenly encounters a surprise visitor.

Just like in the movie, onsite at Look West, Southwest immersed guests into an old west photo studio. Waco-based Holliday Tintype set up a vintage photo studio and guests received a unique tintype photo from the set of the western town of Luck, TX. Southwest also provided attendees with Southwest-branded bandanas as a memento of the special event!

Hawaii Heart Beats

Southwest Hosts Free Concert in Hawaii Featuring Russell Dickerson and Lily Meola

We’re continuing our celebration of our fifth anniversary of Hawaii service, with Hawaii Heart Beats, a program and concert focused on connecting the people of Hawaii to one of the things that is important in their lives—music.

Through Hawaii Heart Beats, we encouraged Hawaii residents to sign up for a Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® account and enter a sweepstakes to win concert tickets, airfare, and a hotel stay. The program culminated with a concert hosted at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center (MACC), that brought Multi-Platinum country artist, Russell Dickerson, and Hawaii local, Lily Meola, to Maui for a weekend full of music, love, and uplifting community support.

The Boys and Girls Club of Maui welcomed Russell Dickerson and Lily Meola the day before the concert for a private acoustic performance, with inspiring melodies for the kids to enjoy. As part of the collaboration, Southwest® donated $10,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Maui and sent each kid home with boxed food for their families.

The Hawaii Heart Beats free concert took place on Saturday, April 27, with more than 1,000 attendees. Prior to the show, we surprised a small group of guests with an intimate meet and greet with Dickerson and Meola.

"This special Hawaii Heart Beats concert allowed us to connect with locals through our shared passion point of music," said Jennifer Bridie, Vice President Marketing Communications & Strategy. "The concert was a great way to engage with attendees in a meaningful way, further building relationships with our local Customers."

This concert marks a new milestone for Russell Dickerson, as this was his first performance in Hawaii. We have enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Lily Meola, as she performed a Live at 35 inflight concert on our inaugural flight to Kahului (Maui). The night opened with fun, experiential opportunities for guests including photo opportunities; food and drinks; and of course, Southwest swag.
